Softball
Postseason accolades came pouring in for the Charger softball team, which advanced to the NCAA Division II Softball Championship Super Regional Championship this season. Senior pitcher Breanne Gleason headlined the awards with a pair of All-America honors. The hurler tabbed National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II All-America Third Team honors, while also earning Daktronics Division II All-America Second Team honors. Gleason was not only named the Daktronics NCAA Division II East Region Pitcher and Player of the Year, but was named the second-ever Northeast-10 Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year. Classmate Nicole Downs was also recognized on the NFCA Division II All-America Third Team and the Daktronics Division II All-America Honorable Mention. The Chargers concluded the 2010 season with a program record of 42 wins, with just eight losses. UNH hosted postseason tournaments three-straight weekends and concluded the season ranked 16th in the nation. 

Baseball
Junior closing pitcher Mitch Rossi led the UNH baseball team with a number of postseason awards. Rossi was named on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II All-America Honorable Mention. The pitcher was also selected to play at Fenway Park in the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association's (NEIBA) All-Star Game on June 6. Teammate Ryan Brockett also earned postseason accolades at his shortstop position. The sophomore was named to the 2010 Rawlings East Region Gold Glove Team at shortstop. 

SAAC Announces Executive Board Members
The University of New Haven's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) recently announced their Executive Board for the 2010-2011 academic year. Women's lacrosse player, Ashley Ferrandiz, will return as the SAAC executive board president. Joining Ferrandiz on the E-board is lacrosse teammate Maureen Spellman, who will serve as the female sports vice president. The vice president of male sports will be men's soccer player J.J. Comeau. Nick Pezzente, also a member of the men's soccer team, will continue as the board's secretary. Lisa Barnard, a member of the women's lacrosse team, will serve as the treasurer. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is composed of various student-athletes who provide insight in regard to the student-athlete experience at the University of New Haven. The primary purpose is allowing student-athletes a voice to protect their interests and welfare with the NCAA.
