“Fiscal Cliff” Discussion

The College of Business Colloquium will host a discussion about the “fiscal cliff” facing the U.S. government at the end of the year on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 12:15 p.m. in Maxcy Hall 124. Leading the conversation will be Ben Judd, associate dean in the College of Business and marketing professor, and Kamal Upadhyaya, professor and chair of economics.

At the end of 2012, the terms of the Budget Control Act of 2011 are scheduled to go into effect. Among the laws set to change are last year’s temporary payroll tax cuts (resulting in a two percent tax increase for workers), the end of certain tax breaks for businesses, shifts in the alternative minimum tax, and the beginning of taxes related to President Barack Obama’s health care law.

Light refreshments will be served.
