Summer Youth Academies at UNH

UNH will offer daytime youth academies at its main campus.

They are:

Biotechnology Summer Institute (July 8-12) will allow students to try scientific techniques such as DNA extraction, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and gel electrophoresis. Students will also transform a bacterium with engineered DNA. Open to high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. The cost of the camp is $500.  Learn more>>

The TEAM-based Engineering and Manufacturing Summer Camp (July 8-19), sponsored by Sikorsky, will involve professors from UNH and the Georgia Institute of Technology. The program will introduce high school students to CATIA v6, the 3D design software used by Sikorsky, Boeing, Airbus, Ford, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and other industries involved in the design and manufacture of complex systems. Crime Scene Investigation Academy will have two sessions (July 22 – 26 and July 29 – Aug. 2). Open to high school sophomores, juniors and seniors, the camp will teach students how to analyze fingerprints, footprints, tire tracks, tool marks, blood spatter and other evidence, as well as how to take crime-scene photography. Engineering and Science Summer Experience (Aug. 5 – 9) will include workshops on writing software, designing, building and testing model aircraft. It also will feature a workshop on the chemistry of food. There will be sessions on mathematics, alternative energy, forensic science and photo modeling. This camp is open to students in the eighth through the tenth grade, and the cost is $500. Learn more>>

Summer Finance Academy (Aug. 13 and 14) will focus on the U.S. economy, financial markets, financial math, personal finance and other important business topics. The two-day camp will include information about career opportunities in business in general and finance in particular, as well as provide information on the principles of economics and business math. The camp is open to high school juniors and seniors and costs $200. Learn more>>
