UNH Named Top College Where Grads Save Lives

UNH has been ranked among the top five schools in the country as part of a list compiled by Fire Science Online, a nonprofit organization that provides free information about fire science, firefighting and other first responder education and careers. The schools named to the organization’s “100 Colleges Where Graduates Save Lives” list were recognized for their commitment to training EMTs, fire fighters and other first responders. UNH has 15 first-response programs.

"First response careers hold a special place in society today and require dedicated and highly trained men and women," said Matt Davis, managing director of Fire Science Online. "These 100 colleges help students transition from life-changing courses to life-saving careers."

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of jobs for first responders is expected to grow by 33 percent by 2020.

To compile the list, nearly 7,000 first response programs across nearly 2,500 colleges and universities were reviewed. Each of these schools had, on average, 2.7 first response programs. Only the schools with at least seven first-response programs made the list.
