Campus Dedication Ceremonies

UNH will honor two alumni during separate dedication ceremonies on Friday, Sept. 20.

At 11:30 a.m., the University will dedicate John and Leona Gehring Hall, which will be home to the renowned Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science. The ceremony will take place in the Maxcy Quad. The building is being dedicated in honor of John Gehring ’52 A.S. and his wife, Leona, in recognition of their generous gift commitment that will support the Lee Institute.

The Gehrings will also create an endowed scholarship fund to benefit students in the College of Business and will establish an endowed professorship at the College. As part of the ceremony, John Gehring, an accomplished entrepreneur, will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree.

At 3:30 p.m. UNH will dedicate the Alexander W. Nicholson Jr. Health Center. The ceremony will take place at the entrance of the Nicholson Health Center, which is on the southwest corner of the Bixler/Botwinik Quad. The building is being dedicated in honor of Al W. Nicholson Jr. ’63 A.S., ’65, ’78 EMBA and his wife, Karen, in recognition of their gift that provided state-of-the-art exam rooms and medical equipment for the health center.

Nicholson is a former member of the University’s Board of Governors and a past president of the Alumni Association. Over the years, he and his wife have contributed to more than 20 UNH programs.
