Lecture: Understanding Intellectual Property

The Alvine Engineering Professional Effectiveness and Enrichment Program will present a lecture by Frederic Tenney and Ramsaran Maharajh, counsel at Pratt and Whitney, on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m. about an understanding of intellectual property for aspiring engineers. They will explore patents, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks and employee IP agreements. The talk will take place in the Schumann Auditorium in Buckman Hall.

Tenney, associate intellectual property counsel for commercial engines, is responsible for leading all protection and product-clearance efforts for Pratt’s new commercial engine programs. 

Maharajh is vice president and counsel of commercial engines. He has global responsibility for the commercial engines’ legal and contracts organizations. Previously, he was Pratt & Whitney’s associate counsel for the Next Generation Product Family, where he was responsible for protecting the technology behind the company’s new PurePower engine. 

Maharajh completed his law degree at Seton Hall University, and Tenney attended law school at Duke.  Both a have bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.
