Lecture Explores Solar Energy Engineering

As part of the Alvine Engineering Professional Effectiveness and Enrichment Program, Paul Lyons ’89 MBA, founder and president of Zapotec Energy, will present a lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 23, about how to prepare for a career in solar energy engineering. The talk will begin at 12:15 p.m. in Schumann Auditorium in Buckman Hall. 

Lyons has been active in the energy industry in New England for nearly 30 years and has extensive experience in all aspects of energy consulting and solar design and development. He formed Zapotec Energy in 1997. He also is a member of the boards of directors of the Solar Energy Business Association of New England and the American Solar Energy Society. Lyons has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Cornell University and is pursuing a Ph.D. at Boston University.
