Inaugural Celebration of Identity Day

UNH will host its first annual Identity Day on Thursday, March 6. The theme of the daylong celebration is “Celebrating Differences.”

Highlights of the day include:

-    A lecture by Frank Griffel, professor of Islamic studies at Yale University, titled “Is Islam a Religion of Peace?” at 4:30 p.m. in Echlin Hall 206. Griffel studied philosophy, Arabic literature and Islamic studies at universities in Germany, Damascus, Berlin and London. At Yale, he teaches courses on the intellectual history of Islam, its theology and the way Islamic thinkers react to Western modernity.

-    A screening of Sundance Festival award-winning film, Amandla! A Revolution in Four-Part Harmony at 6 p.m. in University Theater in Dodds Hall. Acclaimed director Lee Hirsch will lead a discussion following the film.
