Students Sought to be Peer Career Advisors

The Career Development Center is seeking applications for students who are interested in being a peer career adviser (PCA). These individuals work closely with the Career Center staff to provide career information, resources and advising to undergraduate students from all academic programs.

PCAs will be continuously trained in many areas of career development and will become trusted advisers to fellow students. They will earn $1,000 upon successful completion of a full academic year.

Responsibilities:
•    Attend regular training sessions on topics such as resume/cover letter writing, interviewing, internship and job searching, using Charger Career Link and more
•    Meet with students and conduct group presentations on career topics and resources
•    Assist the CDC with major on-campus events such as career fairs, networking events, on-campus recruiting events, resource fairs and etiquette dinners

Qualifications:
•    Undergraduate student in good academic and social standing at the University
•    Strong communication skills, particularly in writing and public speaking
•    Enthusiasm, strong personal motivation and excellent time management skills
•    Commitment to assisting fellow students with all career-related resources
•    Able to commit an average of five hours per week to the CDC for the 2016-17 academic year
