POSTPONED

James Cassella ’76, chief development officer for CoNCERT Pharmaceuticals, will present a lecture on Tuesday, April 5, titled “Making a Difference in Cystic Fibrosis: Science Enabling New Drug Development.” The talk, which will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Kaplan Hall 109, is part of the Henry Voegeli Seminar Series and is sponsored by the Department of Biology and Environmental Science.

Cassella has more than 25 years of experience in drug development, including experience with product development, clinical trial design and execution, regulatory affairs and product registration. Prior to joining CoNCERT, he served as executive vice president of research and development and chief scientific officer of Alexza Pharmaceuticals Inc.

He also spent 15 years as senior vice president of clinical research and development at Neurogen Corporation.

Cassella, who earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology at UNH before going on to earn a Ph.D. in the discipline at Dartmouth College, credits his time as a Charger for helping him realize his life’s dream. “UNH was clearly part of my success,” he says. “It was a place where I thrived.”
