For Donald Willyard ’20, it is hard to pinpoint one reason why he has decided to come to UNH. So he picked one word: everything.

“I've never fallen more in love with one place like I did with the University of New Haven,” he said. “I've also never felt more at home.”

A native of Revere, Mass., Willyard will join the UNH community in the fall as a member of the Class of 2020. The clincher in his decision to become a Charger? The warm and welcoming culture he experienced during his visits to campus.

“It truly made me feel like I belonged,” he said. “There is an immense sense of school pride.”

Willyard first learned about UNH through an email advertising an open house. He made the trip to campus with his parents, and the rest, as they say, is history.

“I was beyond impressed,” he said. “The college search process from that point on went really smoothly, because I had made my choice mentally. All other colleges became my fallback options.”

A business management major, Willyard will be part of the Fast-Track program and will earn his degree in three years. “I don’t know exactly where my degree will take me, but I hope it is somewhere I can have a direct impact on the operations of a business,” he said.

Ultimately, Willyard is most looking forward to being part of the Charger family.

“Anyone who has added me as a friend on Facebook or has seen me on the Class of 2020 Facebook group will know that I excessively use the hashtag #ChargerNation,” he said. “I am super excited to become part of this community.”
